In the old town, on the promenade, you can admire the statue dedicated to Modugno, also called "Mister Volare", which now has become one of the main attractions of Polignano a Mare. All tourists are curious to see up close the work about 3 meters high and made in 2009 by Argentine contemporary sculptor Hermann Mejer.
The statue, commissioned by the Municipality of Polignano a Mare, is facing the sea and it represents Modugno with open arms, as if he were singing.

Also this year the show will pay tribute to the most famous Puglian artist in the world through great interpreters of different generations who will perform on stage singing not only songs composed and performed by Modugno, but also songs of their own repertoire.
Among the protagonists of "Meraviglioso Modugno" 2019: Giordana, Angi, Shade, Alberto Russo, Anna Tatangelo, Luca Barbarossa, Avion Travel, Cordio, La Scapiglaitura. Maria Cristina Zoppa, known voice of Rai Radio Live, Diodato and Marco Cocci will conduct the concert. Three artists from the world of radio, music and acting.
